I think it's backward that, as a Player, I would have to use the "Paid" transaction to lower my balance and the "Received" transaction to raise it. For example, if I'm up $100 in my account the book pays me $100 and I "receive" it. So I would think that I should use the "Received" transaction. But, that doesn't work, it raises my balance to $200 rather than lowering it to $0 where it should be.
Or, is this just used for the player to keep a running total for himself?

your observation is correct. however, it all comes down to perspective. is the fantasy "money" exchanging hands from the book's perspective or that of the player's. when using "paid" or "receive", who's perspective should it be from? it's debatable, but in all fairness it is at least consistent. you are the first to bring this to our attention, but it is understandable. regardless, if you are a book or a player, just make sure that you keep the perspective relative to how we have it and it should be quite easy to keep track of. in the player version, notice the table in the balance screen has book and then transaction. just think of it as book is paid or received and it should be easy to keep track of.
by the way, i noticed that you are the same to have posted about the "per wager limit". does that make sense now?
